The new Netflix Playground app is essentially a kid-safe digital playground where your little ones can jump into their favourite shows and actually play with the characters — minus all the ads, payments and pop-up crap that makes parents want to throw the iPad out the window.

So, what exactly is Netflix Playground? The new kid-friendly app is recommended for kids aged 8 and under and is a greatest-hits playground of kid-approved characters. We're talking Peppa Pig chaos, Sesame Street nostalgia, Dr Seuss Seuss-ness, StoryBots brain boosts, and even a crew of Bad Dinosaurs doing their prehistoric thing. But instead of just watching, kids actually get to do stuff — puzzles, music games, creative building, memory challenges and interactive play that doesn't feel like sneaky homework.

And here's the kicker: there are no ads, no in-app purchases, no "just one more payment to unlock the fun".

Not always — and this is a big win.

Once you've downloaded games, you can play them offline. So whether you're on a plane, stuck in the car, or attempting to shop for groceries without snacks, Netflix Playground has your back.

What Games and Characters Are There?

The games themselves lean into actual learning (don't tell the kids). There's pattern recognition, problem-solving, creativity and musical play baked into everything, but it's all wrapped up in bright colours and familiar faces, so it feels like pure fun.
