Our favourite Heeler family is headed to the big screen!

Ludo Studio are teaming up with BBC Studios to deliver Bluey the Movie, bringing Mum, Dad, Bingo, and Bluey to cinemas in 2027. Yes, it's a bit of a wait, but perfection takes time.

Here's What We Know So Far

Details about the plot are as elusive as Bandit's alone time, but here's what we know so far: Melanie Zanetti (Chilli/Mum) and David McCormack (Bandit/Dad) are returning to voice the iconic parents, and Joff Bush is back on the music, so expect bangers that will live rent-free in your head forever.

Bluey the Movie
Will the new Bluey movie stick to the 2D animation we know and love?

The movie is being written and directed by series mastermind Joe Brumm, with co-directing duties handled by Richard Jeffery, who's no stranger to the world of Bluey-chaos.

"I've always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical movie," says creator, Joe Brumm. "I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together."

Animation legend Amber Naismith (Happy Feet, The LEGO Movie) is producing the CG animated film, so it's safe to say this movie is in paws you can trust. Although one question that pops to mind is will the new Bluey movie stick to the 2D animation we know and love, or will we see all our favourite characters in 3D for the first time?

When Can You See It?

Mark your calendars for 2027—because that's when Bluey the Movie will hit cinemas worldwise before landing on Disney+ for the global fam and ABC iview/ABC Kids for Aussie kids.

The Bittersweet News

While we're over the moon about the movie, this announcement comes with a bit of sad news. Joe Brumm, the creative genius behind Bluey, has revealed this will be his last Bluey project for the foreseeable future.

"I always said I wouldn't keep making the show if I thought I couldn't make any new season as good as the last. This would have been the case for me with a potential season four, so I've decided to take a break from my involvement in the TV series."

It's safe to say 2027 can't come soon enough! Until then, we'll be re-watching all of our favourite episodes and visiting the epic Bluey's World theme park.
