If you've ever wished Australia had a mega-entertainment destination that combines theme parks, global food markets, concerts, and resort-style hotels, then buckle up. A gigantic project called Infinity World (also known as Infinity Planet) is being proposed in Queensland and is set to become one of the country's biggest tourism attractions.
The ambitious $2.6 billion development is planned for Elimbah, about 60km north of Brisbane, roughly halfway between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast. The vision? A full-blown entertainment city designed to attract millions of visitors and open in time for the 2032 Brisbane Olympic Games.
Infinity Planet: Australia's New Theme Park is Heading to Earth
A Theme Park... Dubai-Style
At the centre of Infinity Planet is a large indoor and outdoor theme park packed with rides and attractions. Early plans mention rollercoasters and other classic amusement rides, designed to draw families and thrill-seekers alike.
Developers estimate the park alone could attract around 1.2 million visitors each year, putting it firmly in the running as a major tourism destination for Queensland.
But the theme park is just one piece of the puzzle. Infinity World is designed as a complete entertainment city, ala Dubai-style, meaning visitors could spend an entire weekend — or longer — exploring everything inside the precinct.
A "Permanent World Expo" With 50 Countries
One of Infinity World's most unusual features is its Global Cultural Mall.
The idea is to build 50 international pavilions, each representing a different country with its own architecture, food, shops and cultural experiences. Visitors could stroll from an Italian piazza to a Japanese street market, then into a French patisserie or Korean shopping arcade — all without leaving Queensland.
Developers describe the concept as a "permanent world expo" that brings global cultures together in one destination.
Concerts, Festivals and a Giant City Hall
Infinity World also plans to host big events and concerts thanks to a massive 9,000-seat City Hall venue at the centre of the precinct.
This venue is expected to stage everything from cultural festivals to major international concerts — so your theme park visit could easily turn into a full-blown weekend of entertainment.
Hotels, Glamping and a Resort-Style Stay
For visitors coming from interstate or overseas, the Infinity World includes large accommodation options within the precinct.
Plans include more than 700 hotel rooms across multiple towers, along with glamping accommodation and other resort-style facilities.
The goal is to create a destination where families could stay on-site and explore rides, markets, events and entertainment all in one place.
Why Elimbah?
The location isn't random. Elimbah sits right along the Bruce Highway corridor between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, placing it within reach of two major tourist regions.
Developers say the area was chosen because Queensland's tourism market is booming, especially with the upcoming 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games expected to attract international visitors.
So, Will it Actually Happen?
Right now, Infinity World is still in the planning and approval phase, with proposals lodged with the City of Moreton Bay. Developers say the goal is to have the first stages operating before the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
Here's the current plan for Infinity World's opening:
October 2027: First section of the Global Cultural Mall expected to open
October 2029: Target completion for the Infinity Planet theme park
February 2030: Opening of the Infinity Planet Hotels complex
The entire entertainment precinct aims to be fully operational before the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, which could quickly make it one of Queensland's biggest tourism drawcards.
