For those of you who are slaves to your children (yes, I mean you!), when was the last time you were able to go out and meet-up with a friend, relax and enjoy a cuppa without having to worry about doing a marathon sprint after your youngster? How long has it been since you last treated yourself or your bestie to a manicure or a high tea? Why must we struggle to find places that put us first, are child-friendly, serve delicious treats and leave us feeling de-stressed?!
Look No Further. Pop-in To ‘Parent Poppin’!
Let’s be honest, we are all slaves to our children. It’s the nature of the job! Sure, we love them to bits and would do anything for them but sometimes I for one, can’t help but feel that raising children can be a bit of a ‘life sentence’. I spend a lot of time trying to find a suitable environment other than the park or an indoor play centre, to invite friends, some of who don’t have kids, where we can have an actual ADULT conversation.
Across from the luscious greenery of Sydney Park, and around the corner from St Peters Station, Parent Poppin is buzzing from all kinds of activity. As I entered this cozy premise I was instantly welcomed with a huge smile. May Tran, Owner of Parent Poppin immediately helped my friend and I (and our children) settle in.
Parent Poppin is a drop-in sanctuary for parents and bubs up to 3 years of age. Shoes, prams and strollers are left to the front so that the floor remains clean for little ones to roam and explore at leisure. Every section of this cafe/wellness space keeps youngsters occupied, entertained and happy! Sections of the room cater for different ages but in saying that, parents can easily move from section to section and still find plenty to keep little poppets happy and close to mum or dad.
In one corner of the room a play area comprising of an assortment of baby rockers and playmats are available to allow parents some ‘me’ time while they enjoy a perfect cup of brew and for inbetweeners and toddlers, they have their own sectioned-off space to ‘go wild’ in, play to their hearts content with toys, blocks and a giant chalk wall. Each section has comfy pillows, couches and facilities like a toddler table and chairs so that they too can enjoy a special treat or three with mum or a new friend. Baby change facilities are available so carting that heavy nappy bag can easily be left behind.
Let Them Eat Cake!
Parent Poppin ticks all the boxes, but what I love the most is the High Tea. Show me a place where you and your bestie can sit down, enjoy a scrumptious high tea with all the trimmings: macaroons, delicious finger sandwiches, fresh scones and petite fours just to name a few surprises. High tea includes babycinos for children 1-3 years of age, so youngsters don’t feel like they are missing out. Honestly, I truly felt spoilt as I sipped my specially selected brew and scoffed my posh bites without a worry.
