Every week, Aldi drops two lots of Special Buys — Wednesday and Saturday — and if you blink, they're gone! But don't worry, we're here to help you. We go through the catalogue so you don't have to, pulling out the best picks for Sydney families. This week? One of the sales is genuinely worth setting an alarm for.
What's On Sale This Week at Aldi?
Saturday 23 May 2026: The Snow Gear Sale You've Been Waiting For
If you've been putting off buying snow gear because you don't want to pay ski resort prices, Saturday's Aldi middle aisle is your moment.
The entire sale is dedicated to winter snow gear under Aldi's CRANE label, and the range is proper. Families can stock up on jackets, thermals, base layers, gloves, ski pants, and merino everything. Enough to kit out the whole family without the financial trauma of walking into a ski shop.
The picks we'd be heading in early for:
For the kids:
A Children's Snow Jacket for $39.99 and an adorable Toddler Snow Suit for the same price — both solid value if you're heading to Corin Forest or Snow Time in the Garden this season.
Children's Ski Socks at $8.99 and knitted accessories (beanies, scarves, the works) for just $6.99 are the kind of low-cost add-ons that make a real difference when you're standing in the cold at 7 am wishing you'd packed better.
For the grown-ups:
Men's and Women's Ski Jackets at $59.99 each, Premium Ski Pants at $79.99, and Merino Jackets and Hoodies at $39.99. Seriously, merino at that price is a proper bargain!
The Adult's Premium Touchscreen Gloves for $9.99 are a small but genius buy, because yes, you will need to take a video of your kid's first time in the snow, and no, you won't want to take your gloves off to do it.
Adult UGG Boots. Yes, Really. $44.99.
If you've ever priced up a pair of genuine UGGs, you'll know that $44.99 is way beyond reality. Real UGG boots — with actual Australian sheepskin — typically start around $200 and climb steeply from there. So when Aldi drops them for under $50, we run.
These are UGG Ozwild Footwear Adult's UGG Boots, made with an Australian double-faced sheepskin upper and an Australian sheep-fur insock, so this is the real deal, not a synthetic imitation. They come in two styles: Women's Classic Chestnut (sizes 37-40) and Men's Classic Black (sizes 40-45), with a TPR/EVA outsole.
The catch, as always with Aldi Special Buys: sizes will go fast, particularly the mid-range women's sizes. Get there early on Saturday morning, know your size before you walk in, and don't deliberate in the aisle. These won't be waiting for you on Sunday.
Aldi Doors open Saturday, usually at 8.30 am. This sale will move fast, folks!
Wednesday 27 May 2026: Pantry Picks Worth Grabbing
Wednesday's Special Buys sale isn't as exciting as the Snow Sale, but it's still useful. It's one of those "while you're there" situations that'll see you stocking up on solid winter pantry supplies with a few crowd-pleasers thrown in.
The picks we'd be heading in early for:
Someone at Aldi is a Violet Crumble fan, because this Wednesday, there are not one, not two, but five Violet Crumble products hitting the middle aisle, and they are not what you'd expect.
Violet Crumble Spread 350g ($5.99). Yes. Spread. Like Nutella, but make it honeycomb. At $1.71 per 100g, it's not the cheapest thing on the shelf, but if your kids are Violet Crumble obsessed, this is going straight on toast. Hide it at the back of the cupboard if you want any for yourself.
Violet Crumble Sharepack 280g ($5.99). The classic. The original. The one that gets opened in the car on the way home from Aldi and is half gone by the time you get to the driveway.
Carman's Violet Crumble Protein Bars 200g 5-pack ($5.49). A Violet Crumble collab on a Carman's protein bar — five bars for $5.49 works out to just over a dollar each, which is genuinely great value. Honeycomb flavour, decent protein hit, lunchbox-sized. These will go fast.
BSC Protein Bar Choc Honeycomb 55g ($2.49). The grown-up version. A high protein bar with classic Violet Crumble honeycomb crunch, marketed as sweet, satisfying and perfect post-workout. There are also yummy Violet Crumble Cream Domes 125g ($6.99).
Arnott's Tim Tams — both Caramel and Double Coat — for $2.99 each. Not exactly a secret, but at that price, you buy four and call it meal planning.
Cadbury Favourites for $6.99 is the kind of thing that disappears at school pick-up, and everyone pretends they didn't see.
For actual meals: a Butter Chicken Meal Kit for $4.89 is an easy weeknight dinner sorted; Sourdough Wraps (8-pack) for $3.99; Campbell's Real Stock for $2.25; and Red Tractor Rolled Oats 1.6kg for $6.49.
For those who linger in the drinks aisle, Bundaberg Ginger Beer, Tropical Mango and Passionfruit 4-packs at $5.95 each are the weekend treat drinks that feel a bit special without being a big deal.
Wednesday's sale also has something that's going to divide the group chat. Barbell Biltong Air Dried Steak — available in Sea Salt, Chilli, and Classic flavours at $7.99 each for 70g. Now, is it biltong? The brand says Barbell Biltong. The product says Air Dried Steak. Aldi calls it a Food Special. None of these three things are the same thing, and yet here we are. Whatever you call it, $7.99 for 70g is a reasonable price for a quality dried meat snack. The Sea Salt is the safe starter choice. The Chilli is for the parent who needs something spicy and personal after the kids go to bed. The Classic is for the purist who just wants to eat something that tastes like actual beef.
Snackboy Ball White Choc Cookie Butter 40g ($1.99) and Snackboy Ball Mylk Choc Pistachio Butter 40g ($1.99). Two dollars. For a Snackboy ball. If you've seen these at specialty grocers or health food stores, you'll know they typically sit at three to four times that price. At $1.99 each, they are an absolute steal. For the uninitiated: Snackboy makes those glossy little truffle-style balls that look like they belong in a fancy cafe cabinet. The White Choc Cookie Butter version is exactly what it sounds like: creamy, sweet, a bit indulgent. The Mylk Choc Pistachio Butter is the more interesting of the two, with pistachio everything having a serious moment right now, and this is a very affordable way to get in on it.
The Liquor Aisle: Wednesday's Best Picks for the Adults
Last but certainly not least, we can't forget about some Special Buys from the Liquor section. After a week of school runs, snow gear research and Violet Crumble decisions, you've earned a drink!
St Hallett Faith Barossa Shiraz 2024 ($12.99). St Hallett is a well-regarded Barossa producer, and Faith is their entry-level Shiraz and the one that overdelivers for the price every single year. Under $13 for a Barossa Shiraz from a name you can trust is a very good Wednesday.
Heart in the Hill Orange Sauvignon Blanc 2025 ($11.99). The interesting one. Orange, NSW, is making some genuinely exciting whites right now, and a 2025 vintage Sauvignon Blanc at this price from that region is worth a try.
Hofbräu Helles Lager and Session Lager ($14.99 each for a 4-pack of 500ml). Hofbräu is the famous Munich brewery, so you're getting a proper German lager, not a licensed imitation. The Helles is the classic easy-drinking style; the Session is lighter on alcohol but not on flavour.
Darley's Pink Gin 700ml ($39.99). The priciest item in the liquor lineup, but still well under what you'd pay elsewhere for a premium pink gin. Darley's is an Australian gin brand, and at 700ml for $39.99, this is a reasonable buy if gin is your thing, or if you're looking for something fancy to bring to a dinner party that looks.
FAQS
When do Aldi Special Buys go on sale?
Aldi Special Buys drop twice a week, on Wednesday and every Saturday. The Wednesday sale tends to be food-focused (pantry staples, confectionery, limited-time grocery items), while Saturday is usually where the bigger non-food finds land, like snow gear, homewares, toys, clothing, and appliances. Both sales are limited stock and won't be restocked once they're gone, so if something catches your eye, don't wait.
Can you buy Aldi Special Buys online?
Unfortunately not. Aldi Special Buys are in-store only. You can browse the catalogue online at aldi.com.au to plan your trip, but you'll need to physically go into your nearest store to buy.
What time does Aldi open on Saturdays?
Most Aldi stores open at 8.30 am on Saturdays, though hours can vary slightly by location. For popular Special Buys, it's worth arriving right at opening time. The middle aisle can look very different by 9 am. Check your local store's hours at the Aldi store locator at aldi.com.au before you head out.
What happens to Aldi Special Buys that don't sell?
Aldi doesn't restock Special Buys or return them to suppliers in the traditional sense. Items that don't sell within a week or two typically get marked down further — you'll sometimes spot heavily discounted Special Buys lingering in the middle aisle a week after their launch date.
