Wonderworld Play and Party Centre Opens in Sydney

If you've got little ones to entertain, Wonderworld Play and Party Centre in Mortdale has had a serious glow-up, replacing the now-closed Funhouse.

Wonderworld Play and Party Centre Opens in Sydney

Wonderworld interior
Wonderworld Mortdale is where the old Funhouse used to be.

Created by local parents Melissa Dettman and Philippe Brule, Wonderworld was built from the ground up with real family life in mind. As parents of three, Melissa and Philippe set out to create a space where kids can let loose and have a blast, while parents actually enjoy hanging out, too — no survival mode required. The vision goes beyond a typical play centre, with a strong focus on building a community hub packed with ongoing free fun, from magic shows and character visits to bubble parties, discos, games, and face painting. A space families will want to come back to again and again.

Paw Patrol even showed up for the grand opening! With owners, Melissa and Philippe.

The revamped play centre feels bright, modern and thoughtfully zoned, with a huge multi-level play area that's packed with action, including a soft-packed volcano to climb, a four-lane LED wavy slide that's basically impossible to do just once, balance and web bridges to scramble across, and a massive ball pit complete with a ball fountain sphere that keeps kids mesmerised.

There are also digital touches throughout, including interactive projector games that bring a bit of extra magic to the experience.

For younger visitors, there's a dedicated toddler zone that's much calmer and perfectly scaled down, with its own circular ball pit, blocks to build with, themed rockers, and interactive wall panels designed for hands-on play.

Parents haven't been forgotten either! The on-site café serves up coffee and food, with seating areas that give you a clear view of the action (so you can actually sit down for a minute).

Wonderworld is also set up as a go-to birthday party venue, with streamlined packages that include playtime followed by celebrations in themed private rooms, plus the option to hire out the entire space for bigger events.

Overall, Wonderworld Mortdale is a polished, all-in-one play centre that makes entertaining kids just that little bit easier. Add it to your must-visit list, stat!
