Sydney Opera House: A Day of Theatrical Fun and Discovery

Sydney Opera House is a complete icon and, of course, it is a must-see for any visitor to Sydney. But, this stunner of a building isn’t just for tourists—we Sydney residents are incredibly lucky to have this at our doorstep.

Older kids can check out the inner workings of this architectural marvel on a guided tour of the Opera House and toddlers and preschoolers can spend endless time and energy climbing the monumental steps.

Theatres

Sydney Opera House is home to many theatres and spaces that will spark wonder and creativity in young audiences. The Playhouse is a space for storytelling and often hosts productions for younger audiences, dance and experimental theatrical experiences. 

The Centre for Creativity is another firm favourite amongst kids—a purpose-built home for hands-on creative experiences and home to the Opera House's children, families and creative learning program.

Shows

With a great lineup of shows including Edward the Emu, Grug and the Rainbow, Possum Magic and There's a Sea in My Bedroom, you'll surely find something to tickle your theatrical bone.

Location & Getting There

The famous landmark is located at Bennelong Point, Circular Quay. 

Circular Quay station is a five to seven-minute walk from the Sydney Opera House. You can catch buses, trains and ferries to Circular Quay.

Opening Times

Open from 8.45 am - 5.00 pm on all days for tour bookings and from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm for show bookings.
