If you're looking for the ultimate spot to cool off, chill out, and soak up summer vibes, Northbridge Baths is one of our favourite tidal baths in Sydney.
This serene gem in Middle Harbour has everything you need for a fun-filled family day—sparkling waters, shady spots, a kiosk serving up decent coffee (essential for parents), and even a resident seal if you're lucky!
Why Sydney Families Love Northbridge Baths
Northbridge Baths is an enclosed tidal bath in serene and picturesque Middle Harbour. The shallow water is perfect for tiny tots who just want to wade, paddle, and giggle their way through summer. Fancy a proper swim? There are designated lanes so you can get in a few laps while the kids build sandcastles nearby.
Settle into a sun lounge under the trees, sip on a coffee from the full-service kiosk, and watch the kids have a blast.
If you're in the mood for a family picnic, there are BBQ and picnic facilities, change rooms and toilets nearby.
For active families keep to explore the waters beyond the shore, Northbridge Kayaks, right next door, hire out kayaks if you want to paddle your way around the bay—and if you're lucky, you might even spot the local seal!
Are There Lifeguards on Duty at Northbridge Baths?
No, there are no lifeguards on duty as they are unsupervised tidal baths. Please keep this in mind when visiting with young kids and always be on the lookout for your little swimmers.
Water Quality
The water quality at Northbridge Baths is tested monthly from May to September, and weekly from October to April.
Swimmers are advised to check the NSW Government Beach Watch website before visiting. It's recommended to avoid swimming for up to three days following rainfall or for as long as stormwater is present.
With loads of space for the kids to play in, shallow water for splashing about in as well as lanes for swimming laps, sun lounges set under the shade of lovely old trees, a kiosk with decent coffee, gas bbqs and even lifeguards patrolling – it's hard to imagine a better set up for a lazy summer's day.
You can pull up your beach chair and relax with a snack or an ice cream from the full service kiosk or bring your own lunch and enjoy a picnic or bbq while taking in the view.
Kayaks are available for hire at Northbridge Kayaks next door. Lucky kayakers may get a glimpse of the local seal who lives in Northbridge's bays.
