Surf❜s Up for Playtime: Sydney Beach Playground Getting a Makeover

A full playground makeover is making waves at an Eastern Suburbs beach, and it's set to be packed with fun for kids of all ages!

Thanks to feedback from the local community, Randwick City Council is upgrading the Maroubra Beach playground with a fresh new design full of adventurous features and inclusive play options. Designed to reflect the local beach lifestyle, the new playground will feature a lifeguard-themed play tower complete with two slides, a climbing net, and a fireman pole – perfect for little lifesavers in training.

Playtime favourites are front and centre at the new Maroubra Beach Playground, with swings for toddlers, juniors and a nest swing for shared fun. There'll also be a brand-new sandpit play area, complete with a wheelchair-accessible play table, making it a great spot for kids of all abilities to enjoy beachside fun.

Other highlights include:

• A double flying fox

• More trees and native plantings for shade and beauty

• Picnic tables and benches for relaxed family outings

To make way for the expanded playground, the current outdoor gym will be relocated to the southern end of the beach, giving the playground room to grow without losing any community facilities.

Maroubra Beach Playground Opening Date

Community feedback is currently being reviewed for the final design of the new playground. Construction is expected to begin in mid-2026. Watch this space!
