Blacktown City Family ActiveFest is a free event designed to get kids and adults moving with a fun afternoon of activities at Charlie Lowles Leisure Centre Emerton.

ActiveFest features a packed program designed to get everyone moving, including interactive sporting stalls, a water slide, mini golf, face painting and a special appearance from Aqua Learn to Swim’s Pip the Penguin. Local sporting groups from across Blacktown City will also be on site to share information and help residents discover new ways to stay active.

Save some room for dessert because Sweet Indulgence is back at Blacktown Festival, and it is set to tempt every sweet tooth in Western Sydney. This much-loved event transforms the Village Green into a sugar-filled celebration, showcasing mouth-watering creations from some of Sydney’s top hand-picked dessert vendors.

Families can wander from stall to stall sampling treats, snap photos with candy land props and enjoy live music, adding to the festive atmosphere. There will be free face painting for the kids, roving performers bringing extra sparkle to the day and even a baby bungee jump for little thrill seekers. There will be amusement rides, airbrush tattoos, a petting zoo, lawn games and even rock climbing to keep young adventurers busy.

Beats and Bites is a live music and food event run by Blacktown City Council. The concept is to combine “Beats” (music from local musicians) with “Bites” (local cafes, street food, casual eats) in Blacktown’s CBD. Stroll on down to Warrick Lane every Friday and Saturday evening and enjoy the relaxed vibe.

10. Blacktown Drive-In Markets

Held every Sunday at the historic Skyline Drive-In in Prospect, the “car boot markets" are a vibrant blend of nostalgia and community. Go in search of retro fashion, antique furniture, vinyl records, and memorabilia, or pick up your weekly fresh fruit and veg. Find it right next to Sydney's last remaining drive-in movie theatre.

11. Nursery Open Days

Calling all green thumbs! The Nursery Open Days are an initiative by Blacktown City Council aimed at promoting sustainability and greening the community.

During these events, Blacktown residents who can’t pick up their annual allocation for the Nursery Giveaway Program during weekdays are allowed to collect free plants for their homes and gardens on a Saturday. Each event offers a selection of native and exotic plants, with nursery staff available to assist in choosing species suitable for your garden. Proof of residency is required, and you can snap up two plants per household.
