Tropfest 2026: The World’s Largest Short Film Festival
The wait is over—Tropfest, the world’s largest short film festival, returns to Sydney’s Centennial Park next February.
This free, outdoor celebration of storytelling will showcase fresh new films from emerging creatives, each just seven minutes or less and featuring the iconic Tropfest Signature Item—this year it’s Hourglass.

Presented by CommBank and powered by YouTube, Tropfest 2026 will build on its legacy as a launchpad for Australian filmmakers, offering major prizes including a share of $100,000 from the new CommBank–Tropfest Emerging Filmmakers Fund.
The festival will also feature live music, food stalls, workshops, and an unbeatable atmosphere under the stars.
Submissions open 1 December 2025 via YouTube, with finalist films premiering on the night.
