The Australian Museum has welcomed one of the largest Egyptian exhibitions in history to Sydney in an Australian first.

Until May 2024, Sydney families will be wowed by the Ramses the Gold of the Pharaohs exhibition, which takes us on a journey through one of the most astounding eras in ancient history. During his reign in the 19th Dynasty (aka Egypt's Golden Age), Ramses the Great built more monuments and sired more children than any other Egyptian king - 100 to be exact! He held the second-longest reign of any pharaoh, living an astonishing 92 years old.

More than 180 rare artifacts from Ramses' time on the throne will be on display in Sydney for the first time at the exhibition, so get ready to weave your way through his 67 years as king with unique treasures, towering statues, multimedia productions, and the first-ever virtual walkthrough of Ramses II’s famous temples. Why was his tomb found empty and where was his body eventually found?
