School Holidays at the Museums of History NSW
Become a History Detective at Elizabeth Farm and Vaucluse House
These holidays, kids can go undercover as history detectives at Elizabeth Farm and Vaucluse House!
Dress up, search for clues, solve puzzles, and uncover the fascinating stories of the families who lived in these historic homes, as well as the deep histories of the First Nations custodians of the land. With plenty of hands-on activities and the chance to explore these beautiful heritage houses in a whole new way, it’s a fun and interactive way to connect with the past. Finish your adventure with a treat to reward your sleuthing skills!

Creative First Nations Workshops at the Museum of Sydney

Kids can also take part in two meaningful and creative workshops led by Gumbaynggirr textile artist Sancia Ridgeway. Inspired by the Museum of Sydney’s exhibition Seeing Sydney, Knowing Country, these free workshops explore First Nations knowledge systems through hands-on artmaking.
Weaving the Colours of Country
Using nature and photographs as inspiration, children will create woven artworks that reflect the colours of Country. Their pieces will contribute to a communal display within the museum.

Spinning Threads of Knowledge
Learn traditional yarn-spinning techniques while discovering how First Nations peoples use yarn for fishing, storytelling, and creating pathways of knowledge known as songlines.
