Model MATES Showcases Inclusive Fashion at Sydney Disability Expo 2023

The Model MATES Show will light up the stage on 4 August at 2:00 PM. The event is a testament to diversity and empowerment, featuring 16 models in total, 13 of whom have a diagnosis of autism. Accompanying these remarkable individuals on the runway will be three professional models who serve as mentors, together championing the concept of an inclusive fashion show.

Stylist Bernadette Payne curates the look of the show, while model training is expertly handled by Jessica Grace from Jessica Grace Models and Zoe Karat from Infinite Abilities Performing Arts.

Pioneering Brands

The Model MATES Show is proud to spotlight prominent fashion brands that are breaking barriers and championing inclusive clothing. Visitors can expect to see collections from Christina Stephens and JAM The Label, both of which had an illustrious presence on the first Australian Fashion Week runway featuring disabled models and adaptive clothing in 2022.

Also featuring in the show is the Tommy Hilfiger Adaptive range, sourced from Thread Together. Known for pioneering inclusive fashion for individuals of all abilities, Tommy Hilfiger Adaptive clothing line features designs with easy-to-handle details like magnets and buttons instead of zippers, catering to the needs of individuals facing challenges with traditional clothing.

The Model MATES Show at the Sydney Disability Expo is not just an event, but a celebration of diversity, inclusion, and empowerment through fashion.
