Get ready, Penrith! The highly anticipated Gipps Street Recreation Precinct is about to swing open its proverbial doors, and you're invited to celebrate the grand opening of this new community hub.

Penrith's Gipps Street Recreation Precinct Grand Opening

Be part of Penrith's newest recreational destination and enjoy a day of family fun and celebration! This 32-hectare Gipps Street Recreation Precinct promises to be a game-changer for families offering a range of state-of-the-art facilities and endless fun including:

• a youth zone with a skate park, parkour, and multi-sport courts
• floodlit sports fields
• children’s playspace with water play
• nature playspace and trail
• cricket practice facilities
• outdoor fitness equipment
• picnic and BBQ areas, plus so much more!

Explore the flying fox, climbing towers, and trampolines, check out the new 245-metre pump track and discover chill zones with public art.

There are plenty of shaded areas to relax, parking and upgraded essential amenities to ensure all your needs are covered for a fun day out!

Grand Opening Celebration

You're invited to celebrate the grand opening of this exciting new hotspot on Saturday 31 August from 11 am until 3 pm.

The festivities will include:

In the youth zone:

• free beginner and intermediate skateboarding workshops, and jam sessions, with prizes up for grabs! Spots are limited. Book here.
• parkour and pump track demonstrations
• three-on-three basketball
• bike repair workshops
• origami workshops

On the sports fields and courts:

• Sydney Thunder are bringing the Thunder Bus for some fun games and giveaways
• drop in for mini netball games with Giants Netball
• gridiron clinics with the Nepean Ducks
• soccer clinics with the Nepean Football Association
• Sydney Regional Aboriginal Corporation Deadly Touch Tag
• fitness demonstrations

Plus, face painting, garden games, kite and weaving workshops, roving entertainment and live music. train rides, plus food trucks and FREE hot beverages and sausage sizzle.

All the activities and workshops are FREE for everyone to enjoy! 

The precinct is a $44.5 million project supported by Penrith Council and the NSW Government.
