Children aged 5 to 12 are being called on to create scaley, slithering works of art for the City of Sydney’s Year of the Snake Lunar Celebrations.

It’s time for kids to get creative and share their most colourful sketches as part of the Sydney Lunar Festival 2025.
Selected drawings will be showcased as part of the Year of the Snake outdoor exhibition, displayed along George Street and in the Chinatown precinct during Sydney Lunar Festival 2025.
Young artists are invited to submit vibrant, colourful drawings of snakes that include any of the following themes:
- Celebrate the Lunar New Year
- Performing, anything from dancing to juggling or singing
- Holding a red envelope or lantern
- Happy, friendly, smiling, laughing, cheeky
Creative kids are encouraged to let their imagination run wild and make their images strong and bold.
Up to 3 illustrations can be submitted online and entries close on Sunday 16 June 2024.

The Sydney Lunar Festival will run from 29 January to 16 February 2025 with street parties, lion dancing, dragon boat racing, stage and roving performers, and traditional shows among the highlights.
