Blacktown City Council 2026 Lunar New Year Celebrations


Blacktown is set to dazzle this Lunar New Year as the Chang Lai Yuan Chinese Gardens in Nurragingy Reserve transform into a vibrant hub of cultural festivities to ring in the Year of the Horse.

Bringing the spirit of Lunar to life, the celebrations will feature a range of cultural activities and entertainment, including the Lion Dance, a Dragon dance, and a spectacular fireworks display.

Blacktown City Council 2026 Lunar New Year Celebrations

On Friday 20 February 2026 from 4 to 9 pm, Blacktown City Council invites families, friends, and the entire community to welcome the Year of the Horse with an unforgettable evening of entertainment, tradition, and fun.

Get ready for a feast for the senses as the gardens come alive with colour, music, and sensational performances. There will be an array of food and market stalls plus a jam-packed lineup of cultural activities, including traditional dance and music, lion and dragon dances, and Chinese firecrackers lighting up the night sky. Kids can enjoy FREE workshops and rides throughout the evening.

  • Asian fan painting- 4.30 pm - 8.30 pm
  • Face painting - 4.30 pm - 8.30 pm
  • Kite painting - 4.30 pm - 8.30 pm
  • Lantern lady - 4.30 pm - 8.30 pm
  • God of Wealth- 5.00 pm - 8.30 pm
  • Official opening and Lion dance - 7.00 pm
  • Dragon dance - 7.55 pm
