Beetlejuice is crawling out of the Netherworld and heading for Sydney, with the gloriously unhinged musical set to haunt the Capitol Theatre from November 2026.

Based on Tim Burton's cult 1988 film, this stage spectacle takes everything fans love about the striped-suited menace and turns the dial up to full chaos. There's the recently deceased couple trying to reclaim their home, the delightfully goth Lydia Deetz, a whole lot of supernatural silliness and, of course, one very loud, very inappropriate ghost-with-the-most causing trouble at every possible opportunity.

After scaring up a storm on stage and earning eight Tony Award nominations, Beetlejuice The Musical brings big Broadway energy, cheeky humour, wild sets and a surprisingly heartfelt story about grief, family and finding your people, even if some of them are technically dead. With music and lyrics by Australia's own Eddie Perfect, it's fast, funny, a little bit filthy and absolutely not your average night at the theatre.

This one is best suited to teens and grown-ups rather than little theatre-goers, thanks to its mature themes, spooky subject matter and wonderfully wicked sense of humour. But for families with older kids who loved the movie, or anyone who likes their musicals with less princess sparkle and more demonic razzle-dazzle, Beetlejuice is ready to make Sydney say his name.
