ACO Families: Pinocchio - a Magical Live Music Experience

Embark on an epic adventure full of joy, wonder and just a touch of real magic, as the Australian Chamber Orchestra presents an enchanting adaptation of this much-loved story designed especially for little music lovers.

ACO Families: Pinocchio brings the story of the most famous wooden puppet to life, with an original score played live on stage by ACO Families musicians. Follow Pinocchio as he ventures into a world filled with tricks, half-truths, and larger-than-life adventures, and discovers his rather unusual gift along the way.

In a world where everything is not as it seems, his nose always knows the truth. As Pinocchio journeys through strange and surprising places, he rides inside a whale, gets turned into a donkey, and ultimately sets out to save his beloved papa, Geppetto. Through courage, kindness and determination, he begins to discover what it really means to be “real”.

Created for children aged 3 – 8 and their grown-ups, this 30-minute performance (plus the post-show ‘meet the musicians’ session) is the perfect way to introduce little ones to the wonder of live music and theatre. Plus, they can enjoy free creative play activities in the foyer before and after the performance, while parents can enjoy the magnificent harbour views from the foyer spaces.

Accessible Performance Available

Families looking for a more flexible experience can attend the Relaxed and Auslan Interpreted performance on Wednesday 15 July at 12 pm. This specially tailored session includes adjusted lighting and sound levels, flexible seating and a quiet space for children who may find traditional theatre settings overwhelming.
