Best Hotel Brunches for Kids and Families in Sydney

    Kids

Taking the kids for a family-friendly brunch at a hotel in Sydney may seem odd at first, but if you think about it—it makes a whole lot of sense. First, there is no waiting for meals to come so no keeping kids entertained. Second, if you have a fussy eater they are bound to find at least a few things they like and if they try something and hate it, they can just go get something else. Third, you’ll feel like you are on holidays which is just how Sundays should feel. Here's where to head for Sydney's best hotel breakfasts.

1. Café Opera at the Intercontinental, Sydney

Cafe Opera at the Inercontinental
Drool! Breakfast at Café Opera at the Intercontinental promises to be a huge treat for kids and grown-ups alike.

The breakfast at Café Opera is not cheap at $42 for a create-your-own Continental Stand plus a choice from the Hot Selection and teas, coffees and juices—however, the meticulous attention paid to each dish makes it a stand-out treat of a hotel brunch. Kids come in cheaper at $25 each and their menu includes Maple Pancakes, a Breakfast Egg & Bacon Burger, Eggs on Toast and a Cereal Selection.

With treats at every turn for young and old, it’s hard not to come out feeling overstuffed. But a brisk walk through the Botanical Gardens or down to the Opera House afterwards is sure to make you feel better!

2. Glass Brasserie at the Hilton, Sydney CBD

Glass Brasserie the Hilton
A decadent and delicious selection is on offer at Glass Brasserie at the Hilton!

The buffet breakfast at Glass Brasserie has been called the best in Sydney and with well-known chef Luke Mangan in charge it is no surprise. In fact, it is so popular that they recommend non-hotel guests book in advance, even for breakfast. While all buffets are a good option if you have picky eaters, Glass takes it a step further with customisable options such as a fresh juice bar with piles of fruit to make your own creation or a muesli stand with piles of fruit, nuts and grains to work with. The floor to ceiling windows overlooks the Queen Victoria Building, where you can work off your breakfast browsing the high-end shops and toy stores. The full buffet breakfast is $45 for adults and half-price for kids 5-12, while under-fives eat free.

3. Altitude at the Shangri La, The Rocks

Shangri-La Altitude
The a la carte menu at Altitude will strike a chord with even the littlest eaters!

On the 36th floor of the Shangri-La, Altitude Restaurant certainly has the views! The perfect destination for a hotel brunch in the city, Altitude offers a delicious selection of a la catre hot and cold dishes, including a classic Australian Breakfast, and a mouth-watering Benedict served with poached eggs and hollandaise. But save room for a sweet course too—the French Toast or Waffles sound divine

4. Rise Breakfast at Rydges, Bankstown, Camperdown, North Sydney, Cronulla, Parramatta

Rise Breakfast at Rydges
Delicious hotel breakfasts await across Rydges hotels!

If you don’t want to head into the city to eat all the breakfast you can, Rydges has introduced their new Rise breakfast, a slightly healthier option without the city price tag. Touted as an alternative to the classic hotel breakfast, Rydges say their new Rise breakfast options are healthy, fast, and high energy. Does that sound like any little people you know? Choose from whole-grain bread, pressed vegetable juices and seasonal fruit, or the more traditional bacon, eggs and sausages affair. Times and prices vary slightly by location but the full buffet breakfast is about $25 for adults and children are half price.

5. Harvest Buffet At The Star

Harvest Buffet at The Star
A veritable feast for the senses, Harvest Buffet is a winner for guests of all ages!

*Note: Harvest Buffet is temporarily closed. Check here to keep up to date with their re-opening.

Enjoy a scintillating array of breakfast options from traditional continental staples like scrambled eggs and French toast to eastern favourites like steamed buns. This is one of the very best breakfast buffets in Sydney—costing adults $39 and kids $20. Harvest Buffet is open from 7 am every day, level one at the Star.
