Wildlife Wanderers at Gumbuya World

Spend a weekday morning with zookeepers, animals and a generous amount of chalk at Wildlife Wanderers, Gumbuya World's nature play session for little ones!

Wildlife Wanderers is a zookeeper-led playgroup for children aged 0 to 7, and it runs at Gumbuya World in Tynong every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of school term. Sessions run from 11 am to 12 noon until Friday 27 November 2026.

What to Expect at Wildlife Wanderers

Gumbuya World's zookeepers lead every session, and children meet animals such as Little Penguins, Tasmanian Devils and Kangaroos. Parents and carers take part in the activities, so you will want clothes that cope with chalk, sand and water. On Fridays, children also get access to Junior Rides. Friday is the pick for ride fans!

The activities change every week, and Nature Play on 4, 5 and 6 November has children decorating wands with yarn, mixing nature potions, making stuffed fruit and vegetable treats for the animals, drawing with chalk and hunting for hidden animal toys in the garden before meeting a mystery animal. Beach Play on 11, 12 and 13 November includes water and sand play and a turtle to meet. Community Building on 18, 19 and 20 November includes nature drums and bear bowling. Pirates on 25, 26 and 27 November is the final week of 2026, with a mini flight show and participation certificates!
