1. Bilpin Country Lodge, Farmstay and Bed & Breakfast - Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains region comes alive in the colder months and Bilpin Country Lodge makes an ideal winter getaway to experience the magic. Bilpin's beautiful log fire lights up the lounge room for a toasty retreat experience throughout winter, along with a host of creature comforts including Wi-Fi, a games room and breakfast.

Set on 10 acres of gardens and bushland, the farm stay surroundings offer ample space for the kids to immerse themselves in nature and outdoor play, with swimming, canoeing, hiking, a playground, and resident animals to feed and pet. The lodge is also pet-friendly, so you can bring your own four-legged friend.

2. Peacehaven Country Cottages & Farmstay - Bulahdelah

 

A stunning self-contained country cottage retreat and farm stay on the Mid North Coast of NSW near the Myall Lakes, Forster and Barrington Tops, Peacehaven even offers free pony rides for the kids! Their Tranquility Cottage has a log fire and a spa bath with candles, an aromatic oil bubble bath and bath salts.

3. Barcoos Farmstays - Bathurst

Barcoos Farmstays Bathurst is a genuine working farm with merino sheep, breeding cows, working dogs, horses and ponies, alpacas to hand feed, a donkey with manners, a pig that does tricks for treats, chickens, ducks, and often poddy lambs. In winter, they have a slow-combustion wood heater in the Farmhouse and an outdoor campfire area.

There are loads of hands-on interactive family fun that kids will love, including farm activities, pony rides and a Clydesdale-horse-pulled sledge. Barcoos Barn has self-contained units and a Farmhouse, plus caravan and camping facilities.

5. Ashmar Farm Stay - Gloucester

You’ll have this gorgeous self-contained heritage cottage all to yourself so you can experience authentic family farm living! Get started at Ashmar Farm by milking a cow, collecting farm eggs, feeding the animals and bushwalking through the ancient cycads.

During the cooler months, make yourself warm in front of the crackling wood fire. For kids, there is lots to see and do at the farm, and plenty of wide-open spaces to play in. They’ll learn all about farm animals and where food comes from.

6. Kookaburra Cottage Farmstay - Port Stephens

At Kookaburra Cottages, there is a farmhouse, cottages and cabins to choose from for your overnight stay and a daily animal feeding schedule that includes cow milking and feeding of the calf and cows, a tractor ride to feed the pig, then the donkey, goats, alpacas, sheep and duck island.

Their cottages offer wood fires and your own private jacuzzi bathtub. The farm is also close to beaches and tourist attractions around Port Stephens and Nelson Bay.
