Selwyn Snow Resort is Transformed Into a Winter Wonderland
- All Ages
Closed since the 2020 bushfires and nestled in the picturesque Snowy Mountains region of New South Wales, Selwyn Snow Resort successfully secured unprecedented investment to radically improve the resort and transform it into a winter wonderland, intending to reaffirm its place as an icon of the Australian snow scene.
If you've been itching to revisit your favourite Snowy Mountains snow resort, we're happy to report that the brand-new Selwyn Snow Resort is OPEN for the 2023 season!
The All-New Selwyn Snow Resort 2023
Selwyn Snow Resort has been closed for the past three years to undergo a massive transformation. The new-look Selwyn Snow Resort is now home to brand-new guest facilities, state-of-the-art snowmaking capabilities, upgraded lifts and a range of exciting new things to see and do for visitors.
The Blyton Group—the venue owner—and the NSW Government have agreed to a new 40-year lease, which means the resort is here to stay!
What to Expect at the New Selwyn Snow Resort
So, let’s get down to the really good stuff. What can we expect? What key features of the redevelopment really draw us in?
Well, there are plenty of things to delight the grown-ups—we’re talking about a new toboggan park, an upgraded chairlift, two new snow carpets and the brand-new Selwyn Centre, which will be a one-stop-shop for all guest facilities, accommodation and services. And while we’re here, we may as well mention that there's an all-new food and drink venue, new hire facilities, seating and (music to parents’ ears!), a Kids Club. Hallelujah!
Welcome to Winter Wonderland
The very best part of the Selwyn Snow Resort upgrades - the icing on top of the cake, if you will - has to be the plans to build a kid-focused Winter Wonderland at the new Selwyn Snow Resort.
This celebration of all things winter includes a skating rink that can double as a bumper car arena, a miniature enchanted village that brims with alpine charm, as well as a tubing carousel for the under fives and kid snowmobiles for the five-13-year-olds - wow!
There is also be the chance for visiting families to take snowshoe walking tours of Kosciuszko National Park, the family-friendly nature of the resort being something that Blyton Group Chairman, Kevin James Blyton, has listed as an essential feature of the redevelopment. He said, "Selwyn Snow Resort has been the place for thousands of families to learn to ski or snowboard over the years, and I’m very pleased that this will continue for generations to come." Hear hear!
