Newsflash: Royal Caribbean Is Opening A Private Island Off The Coast Of Australia

Remember that time we wrote about Perfect Day at CocoCay, and how our minds were completely and utterly and officially blown? Well, it looks like Australia is going to get its very own slice of the private island pie.

As popular as South Pacific itineraries are, there’s been a private-island shaped hole in the cruises up until now. Companies including Royal Caribbean, Carnival and Princess Cruises all own private islands around the Caribbean, which they’ve transformed into idyllic havens only accessible to their guests. Alas, none down under—until now.

The new island is set to be one of five new ‘Perfect Day’ islands the cruise line is planning to open in the next five years, along with one in Asia and another in the Caribbean.

The cruise line’s President & Chief Executive, Michael Bayley, told Travel Weekly that the cruise line has acquired land “around the world” and plans to give each a “slight different concept”. We're ready and waiting, Mr. Bayley!

What Do You Do On The Perfect Day?

Once you've hopped off the ship cruisers will enjoy a welcoming party of live music, brave a zip line ride soaring across the harbour, enjoy the view from a helium balloon 450 feet in the air, race down the world's tallest waterslide (135 feet), ride the tide in the huge wave pool, unwind at the freshwater pool or simply relax at an over-water cabana - with slides, of course. Bring. It On.
