At ellaslist, we utterly love a good farm stay. We love the serenity, the sense of escape, and how happy kids seem when they’re frolicking about in nature. Located just 90 minutes drive west of Sydney, Eden Equine is a working equine farm nestled in the scenic Blue Mountains that is begging to be explored.

Here’s why you should make it your next destination for a family getaway (you can even bring your dog!).

The Setting

Located in the family-friendly sanctuary of Bilpin, Eden Equine is sandwiched between Wollemi National Park and Blue Mountains National Park, and boasts majestic views of blue ribbon grazing land out to the mountains.

On the property, you will find riding arena, barns and stables plus a beautiful dam which is perfect for cooling off with a swim on a hot day or just floating on a large swan with a cold drink (#Instagrammers welcome at Eden Equine!). There are heaps of places to walk and explore on the property including nature trails and bushwalks.

The setting itself is super quiet—allowing you to really get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and fully immerse yourself in the simplicity and serenity of the country. Bilpin is a picturesque spot to visit the Mt Tomah Botanic Gardens, local orchards for a spot of fruit picking, a day trip to the Blue Mountains or the local eateries for a lovely meal.

The Animals

Although it’s primarily an equine farm, housing twelve horses and ponies alongside several other agisted horses—Eden Equine is also home to a range of other animals, including alpacas, cows, miniature donkeys, ducks, goats, sheep, and a well-loved rescue pig named Sir Pigsley Russel III. So, there’s that.

Equine Assisted Learning

The entire premise of the retreat was prompted by the founder’s love of animals and combined desire to find a sanctuary to get away from the fast pace of Sydney. Their youngest child had been diagnosed with a number of behavioural issues and after researching and trying various therapies, their research led them to Equine Assisted Learning and Therapies.

They offer both private sessions and a scholarship-based system for children with special needs and regularly host Farm Days for children and their families, providing activities in a safe and supportive environment.

The Accommodation

The Simple Life

Eden Farm Escape boasts 5 self-contained bespoke cabins set on 90-acres of white fenced green paddocks. The beautifully designed cottages, overlooking the picturesque Blue Mountains, offers the perfect getaway for any occasion—from a romantic retreat to a family holiday, or even a weekend escape. The stunning interiors and modern conveniences combine to create a luxury setting that will feel like you’re truly escaping to the picturesque serenity of farm life.

Back To Bilpin

In wake of the recent and devestating bushfires, an area-wide #BacktoBilpin campaign began to encourage holidaymakers to return to the Blue Mountains.

The centre of Bilpin has a Post Office, a hardware store that sells basic groceries and newspapers, an auto mechanic, and a restaurant. Oh and there's great fruit picking nearby! What are you waiting for?
