The World❜s Largest Cruise Ship Features the World❜s Largest Water Park at Sea
- All Ages
Forget what you thought you knew about mega cruise ships. We, too, thought we'd seen the pinnacle of mega cruise ships to set sail on the high seas when Wonder of the Seas debuted this year, but we hadn't seen anything yet.
Royal Caribbean have gone and done it again and released pictures of the world's largest cruise ship, Icon of the Seas, topping their own world ranking!
Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas
Icon of the Seas is part of Royal Caribbean's new series of cruise ships dubbed the 'Icon Class', with each ship promising a jaw-dropping array of iconic features.
Currently, the world's largest cruise ship, aka Wonder of the Seas, can accommodate 5,518 passengers, but, come 2024, Icon of the Seas will add another 2,082 passengers aboard it's ultra-luxurious and ultra-family-friendly vessel.
Royal Caribbean have just commenced construction on Icon of the Seas and are gearing up for its first sail in 2024 - and just wait until you see what they're building! A suspended infinity pool, a 55-foot waterfall, swim-up bars, water parks, a three-storey Family Townhouse, 15 restaurants, an indoor aqua theatre, and the world's largest swimming pool at sea are just some of the incredible new digs coming to Icon of the Seas.

The World's Largest Water Park at Sea
Icon of the Seas will not disappoint on the large and lavish features front. Along with taking the title of the world's largest cruise ship, Icon of the Seas can also add the world's largest swimming pool at sea and the world's largest water park at sea to her list of accolades.
Stretched over multiple decks, swimming, swimming, and more swimming will undoubtedly be on the agenda for holidaymakers aboard Icon of the Seas. Chill Island is the name of the main swimming pool arena, which will include seven pools, nine whirlpools, and six "record-breaking" slides with names such as Hurricane Hunter, Pressure Drop, and Frightening Bolt.
Parents with kids can head to Surfside Water’s Edge on Deck 7, or those keen for a more relaxing atmosphere can make the most of the stunning views across the oceans from Hideaway Pool on Deck 15, the world's first suspended infinity pool at sea. Those keen for an adrenalin hit can test out their surfing skills on the interactive wave pool.
And speaking of incredible water features, Icon of the Seas will also have incredible water features in the interior. The Aqua Theatre is an aqua dome perched atop the ship with ocean views and a waterfall for guests to dine in during the day before transforming into an interactive aqua theatre with live nightly performances.
Family-friendly Accommodation
Icon of the Seas will also boast the Royal Caribbean’s largest family suites to date. There will be 28 different room categories onboard, including the Family Infinite Balcony and Surfside Family Suite. And for the crème de la crème for large, travelling families, you can book the Ultimate Family Townhouse, which is spread across three massive levels and even includes a white picket fence and mailbox!
For romantics looking to sweep their love away in style, the Sunset Corner Suites and Panoramic Ocean Views in AquaDome feature incredible ocean views and all the luxurious trimmings you can think of - heaven!
