The Best Sydney Rooftops For Summer Drinks
- Parents Only
Despite your capacity as a Mama—you deserve some time out. Other things you deserve? Cocktails. And wine.
While it can be easy to let the festive season revolve entirely around the small people in your life (let’s face it, they tend to be particularly loud and boisterous this time of year), it’s important to take some time away from the family and do something just for you.
So why not grab some of your girlfriends and head on out to while away a summer’s afternoon with an ostentatiously-garnished cocktail or twelve? ’Tis the season after all…
Here’s our pick of the best rooftop bars in Sydney for summer drinks.
East Village Rooftop
Like a disillusioned pop star, this bar is constantly reinventing itself and they're always out-doing themselves. This summer the East Village Darlinghurst have created the ultimate 'beach club' on their rooftop. Think palm trees, bright colours and frozen cocktails served from a slushie machine! Drink Midori Illusions like you're a teenager again or go sophisticated with Pina Coladas and Frozé while you take in the views of the city. And if you want to pretend you're backpacking through Thailand you can even drink your cocktail from a bucket!
Get your glad rags on and hit up one of Sydney’s most popular rooftop haunts. Coogee Pavillion is one of the it places to be seen in the Eastern Suburbs, not least because of its epic location just a stones throw from Coogee Beach. It’s about as Instagrammable a location as they come, boasting a stunning rooftop that will quickly see you mentally redesigning your entire home. The cocktail list comprises both classics and slightly quirkier numbers, and there’s no end of great wine for all you vino-fiends.
Slims Rooftop, Hyde Park House
Overlooking the magnificent Hyde Park with uninterrupted views of the city CBD and westerly sun, Slims Rooftop is a mecca of frilly umbrellas just waiting to be sat under by gaggles of girlfriends. The Japanese-style menu serves a variety of small dishes and snacks to accompany the exquisite drinks list, which includes a diverse range of cocktails. See you there!
Another gem of the East, The Sheaf’s awesome rooftop bar is a great pick for your next girls afternoon. From Thursday to Sunday, The Sheaf has teamed up with Bacardi to bring you a little slice of coconut heaven—boasting all of the rum-based cocktails you know and love plus some new ones thrown into the mix. Perfect for grabbing the girls and enjoying a few summer-inspired drinks while you enjoy the rooftop views from Double Bay’s most popular hotspot.
Sitting way up high, 83-metres above sea level, Light Brigade Rooftop boasts a stunning urban outlook of the city, and offers excellent food and drink options to boot. Why not grab your girlfriends, a few rounds of frosé and enjoy an afternoon soaking up the stunning location of this gorgeous rooftop.
The latest addition to Manly’s thriving social scene, Manly Greenhouse is the ideal spot for your next girls day out. The multi-storey beachfront bar and restaurant offers impressive panoramic ocean views, situated under a canopy of cascading ferns. The cocktail list is both innovative and classic, with cheeky names like ‘Shirley’s Body is not a Temple’. Sold! to the pun-suckers at ellaslist.
Intercontinental Double Bay
Open to the public from Tuesdays to Sundays throughout the summer season, Intercontinental Double Bay's Rooftop Bar is the ideal spot for a get-together with the girls to soak in panoramic views of Sydney Harbour. The onsite mixologist is on hand to whip up your favourite cocktail, and you’ll feel a world away from the hustle and bustle of family life at this relaxing, luxurious location.
