SurfnPlay Aqua Park is Coming to Australia
- Family

We all love a good water park, and this gigantic new one heading down under looks set to be the best - and biggest - yet.
The $100 million project - to be named Surfnplay Aqua Park - spans 18,200sqm inside, and 20,000sqm outside and is set to rival Sydney's Raging Waters, Queensland's Wet 'n' Wild and many other of Australia's mega water parks to claim the title of Australia's largest water park!
SurfnPlay: Southern Hemisphere's Largest Water Park Coming to Australia

SurfnPlay Aqua Park has been in development since 2019! Initially announced in March 2019, a surf park component was added in 2020. However, planning was delayed for several years as the site was checked for endangered species like the Growling Grass Frog and assessed for compatibility with a green wedge location.

The project was included in the state government's Development Facilitation Program in December 2023, and it is now officially progressing at Dingley Village.
The new Dingley SurfnPlay Aquatic Park has received official approval. The state government's Development Facilitation Program gave the green light in May 2024, ending five years of uncertainty for the attraction, which could welcome visitors as early as 2027!
Designed by the Melbourne architectural firm Peddle Thorpe, known for projects like the Melbourne Aquarium and Melbourne Sports and Aquatics Centre, the $171 million park will feature an 18,200 square-metre interior space and an additional 20,000 square meters outdoors.
Additionally, Dingley Village will see more major developments, with the Hawthorn Football Club starting construction on its new home in the suburb late last year, scheduled for completion in 2025.
What's On Offer at SurfnPlay

SurfnPlay will include the sorts of waterslides that kids are used to seeing only in video games, as well as specially designed slides with extra water jets and zip line towers that will launch park-goers from the sides. There will also be a wave machine that’s a whopping seven times the size of the one set up at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre a few years ago!

And when the adrenalin-fuelled activities get a bit too much, there will also be a 423-metre-long lazy river to float along, beneath a giant indoor and outdoor freshwater aquarium.
Retractable glass walls and bulkheads will keep the park’s outdoor features sealed off during winter, allowing the park to remain functional during the city’s cooler weather.
Location & Opening Date

The new aqua park is set to open in Melbourne's Dingley Valley in 2027 if all goes according to plan - we can't wait!
