Quarantine-Free Travel Destinations: Where You Can Travel Without Quarantining

As COVID-19 restrictions ease the world over, international travel is once again a very real possibility for Aussies, and boy have we been bitten by the travel bug!

After such a long time of having few travel options beyond our own domestic borders, it’s an exciting time to contemplate some long-awaited trips overseas. So, quarantine-free travel, we hear you ask? Where can you go without having to quarantine? The good news is that many countries are easing their travel and quarantine restrictions so that you don't have to add an extra seven days to your itinerary in order to quarantine - hooray! Check out these incredible quarantine-free travel destinations and start planning that holiday.

Quarantine-Free Travel Destinations

1. Singapore

As of 1 April 2022, Singapore will allow fully vaccinated travellers and unvaccinated children aged 12 and under from all countries to enter without having to quarantine. Visitors will not need to apply for entry approval or take designated transport, although they will need to take a PCR test within two days prior to departure and not have travelled to a 'Restricted Category' destination.

2. Canada

Quarantine-free travel is underway in Canada and as of 1 April 2022, travellers will no longer need to show a negative pre-departure COVID test in order to enter the country. Similarly, tourists will not need a booster shot in order to be considered fully vaccinated.

3. Bali

Looking for a hassle-free trip somewhere tropical? We have the answer! Australians are lucky enough to be able to enjoy quarantine-free travel to Bali again, as well as its visa on arrival program. Visitors from select countries (including Australia) can skip quarantine as long as they are fully vaccinated and can provide confirmation they have booked a minimum three-night stay at a hotel. Travellers will still need to undergo a PCR test upon arrival and isolate if they test positive.

4. New Zealand

From 12 April 2022, vaccinated Australians will be able to enter New Zealand without quarantine. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern says "We are ready to welcome the world back"—and it's safe to say the world is ready to be welcomed back! 

5. Vietnam

Vietnam announced an end to quarantine for international travellers in March 2022 as it seeks to reboot its decimated tourism industry. The only requirement for visitors travelling to Vietnam is a negative COVID test on entry. This good news, however, does come with some caution, as COVID cases continue to climb in the Southeast Asian country. 

6. The Maldives

Paradise is calling! Currently, there is no mandatory quarantine required for travellers arriving in the Maldives, making it a picturesque destination for easy travel. However, you must present a negative PCR test when checking into your flight. 

7. England

In great news for ex-pats looking to reunite with friends and family in England, the country has removed all of its COVID-19 travel restrictions, regardless of vaccination status—and you no longer need to take any tests before or after arrival. It’s about as easy as travel gets in the post-COVID era!

8. Ireland

Similarly to England, quarantine-free travel is well underway in Ireland. There are no post-arrival testing requirements, and you no longer need to show any proof of vaccination status or proof of a recent negative COVID-19 test.

9. Italy

Quarantine-free travel is permitted to Italy providing travellers are fully vaccinated or have recently recovered from COVID-19, meaning the cultural delights of a quintessential European summer are well within reach!

10. Switzerland

In addition to welcoming travellers without the requirement to quarantine, Switzerland also no longer requires that you present a negative PCR test on arrival, however, non-residents must still present proof of vaccination to enter.

11. Iceland

All COVID-19 travel restrictions into Iceland have been lifted, so travellers can simply expect that pre-pandemic entry rules apply. Bucket list trip, anyone?

12. Thailand

 

Fully vaccinated travellers from any country are allowed to enter Thailand without quarantine. You must be fully vaccinated for more than 14 days before travelling and must book a SHA+ Hotel for Day 1 while waiting for the result of the arrival PCR test. 

It's important to note that just because you don't need to quarantine upon entry to these countries, it doesn't mean there are no COVID cases in these destinations. Visit the World Health Organization for the latest COVID numbers around the world.
