Area 51, aka, Australia's largest playground has opened at a former Bunnings site and the action-packed wonderland is so thrilling, that it makes up for all the lost weekend sausage sizzles!

At ellaslist, we're big fans of new playgrounds, so when we hear that one is claiming to be 'Australia's largest playground' then our ears perk right up.

The site in question is the former Bunnings Underwood in Brisbane (sorry Sydney and Melbourne folks!) which has been completely gutted to make room for this mega new family entertainment centre - Area 51.

What is Area 51 Brisbane?

Area 51 is a state-of-the-art entertainment precinct offering the unique combination of an indoor play space, sports centre and recreation centre all in one.

The brand new mega-fun zone is the largest indoor family entertainment centre in Australia with more than 10,000m² of space to run wild, including a Ninja Course and Parkour, Sky Ropes, Multiverse Megaslides, a Moonwalk Boulder Wall, Launchpad Trampoline Park and the Alien Air Coaster.

Area 51 also boasts a Multi-level Soft Playground, Toddler Zone, Multi Sports Court and Sensory Room, Plus, you can also sign up for classes like Mum and Bub Yoga, Pilates, Dance Classes, Martial Arts, Toddler Classes and Cooking Classes. 

With a unique 300-seat cafe with a designated space for toddlers to play (so parents can have some downtime too) - and party rooms for the ultimate special occasion celebration - this extraordinary destination is a complete paradise for children and parents with brand new facilities for families to play, learn and eat.

Something for Every Little One

Area 51 has designed purpose-built play areas for kids of all ages.

Astro Tots is a fully contained interactive adventure playground for little ones aged 0 – 3 years (infants under 12 months are free to play), and the Main Playground, Gizmo's Galaxy, complete with giant slides and ball pits, plus Launchpad Trampoline Park, is perfect for 3 – 5-year-olds to slide and jump.

However, for a truly out-of-the-world experience, you need to explore the Universe! Get an all-access pass that includes Gizmo’s Galaxy and Launch Pad Trampoline Park, Parkour X, Space Ninja Warrior, Moonwalk Boulder Wall, Cosmo’s Climbing Walls, Sky Ropes and all of the daily activities on offer in the Multi-Sports Courts.
