ellaslist Reviews: Australia❜s First Immersive Gamebox
- All Ages
The school holidays were in full swing, and the challenge of keeping the kids engaged and entertained was becoming increasingly daunting. Just when we thought we'd exhausted every option in Sydney, a glimmer of new excitement emerged on the horizon – Australia's First Immersive Gamebox in Darling Harbour.
Australia's first Immersive Gamebox is a brand-new gaming concept that promises an experience like no other. And let me tell you, it didn't disappoint!
A Day to Remember: Our Immersive Gamebox Adventure
Imagine a place where motion tracking meets projection mapping, touch screens sync with surround sound, and your body becomes the ultimate game controller.
That's Immersive Gamebox for you! As we entered the room, the kids' eyes lit up excitedly. It was clear this was going to be something special.
A Game for Every Gamer
The beauty of Immersive Gamebox lies in its inclusivity. Whether you're a tech guru or someone who's never held a controller, this place welcomes you with open arms. The games are ingeniously designed to be user-friendly, ensuring players of all ages can jump right in and have a blast.
Having four kids aged between 4 and 12, it can be hard to find something everyone enjoys, so our day at Immersive Gamebox was a miracle.
Booking is for private rooms that hold up to 6 people (minimum of 2), with everyone wearing a lightweight, high-tech visor on their head to control how their character moves on the movie screen.
You are surrounded by three state-of-the-art screens in the room and can choose your adventure (ranging from 30 to 60 minutes) and theme, for example, Paw Patrol, Ghostbusters or James Bunny. You can be as active as you like or take your adventure at a slower pace. There was also an opportunity for a toilet or drink break in the middle of our experience if we wanted to select it.
My kids couldn't get enough of the Angry Birds game. They have always loved video and computer games but this took things to a whole new level. They didn't want to leave!
A Relaxing Break for Parents, Non-Stop Fun for Kids
Now the kids were happy, it was time for me to sit back and relax. Seating and tables are available outside the private rooms, and you can still keep track of how your youngsters are doing as the rooms are completely see-through.
Restrooms are within arms-length, as well as a canteen that is stocked with classics like delicious pies, sausage rolls and chips or a well-deserved coffee or cool drink to wet your whistle before or after your experience.
Lockers are available, but there is also space for you to take your bags into your private adventure if you wish. No specific level of fitness is required (trust me!) and most disabilities and access requirements, including wheelchair access, can be accommodated.
Party and corporate packages are available and if you are looking to do something on date night, how about a friendly round of Squid Games or Angry Birds to get the heart racing?
