New Playground Opens at Buttenshaw Park Springwood
You know you're a parent when news of a brand-new playground gets you hot under the collar, and this one is no exception! Springwood's Buttenshaw Park has recently welcomed a brand-new playground, and the thoughtfully-designed, youth-focused space promises plenty of fun for the local community and visitors alike.
New Playground at Buttenshaw Park Springwood
The Playground of Dreams
Situated next to the Aquatic Centre at Buttenshaw Park, this older child/teenager-focused space is an incredible new play space for children of all ages.
The playground looks awesome, complete with a 25-metre flying fox, a rope group swing, a unique, customised youth-focused climbing and hang-out structure, a climbing and bouldering wall, and a climbing net. Phew!
Beyond the playground, there are plenty of other facilities to make a visit to the park a whole lot more appealing. These include hangout areas, a ping pong table, a whole lotta seating, two sheltered picnic tables, a water refill station, a great path for bikes and scooters, an accessible ramp down to the playground and a bike rack. What more could we ask for? (Beyond an onsite cafe and personal barista serving up alllll of the caffeine, of course).
While we're busy getting to grips with enjoying what's currently in existence at Buttenshaw Park, the second phase of the redevelopment is being considered. The initial plans included a BMX pump track, however, to ensure that the majority of the work at Buttenshaw was delivered on time and within budget, the council removed the pump track from this round of upgrades.
Council hopes to gain grant funding for the BMX track which will form part of the second stage of improvements—so watch this space. BMX track or not though—this playground is well worth a visit!
