There's something so relaxing about hitting your local markets on the weekend, but it's next level if it's also fun for the kids. Brisbane has so many great markets around that go beyond just buying local produce - think music, entertainment, great food, and fun activities.
Here are some of our favourites that will have your kids begging to head to the markets next weekend:
The Mummy Tree Markets
The Mummy Tree Markets are a boutique family market held at various locations around the city. They're known for their high-quality and unique products including clothes and household knick-knacks. Kids are entertained by a wide variety of entertainers including music, singing, face-painting, balloon animals, games, prizes and even a jumping castle.

Eat Street Markets
The Eat Street Markets started over six years ago and was such a massive hit they had to redevelop the venue to be able to take the Brisbane crowds. Now it's a massive riverside centre of family,food and fun. Heaving with great live music, street performers, fun culinary treats from all over the world and stalls full of wonder - all running out of colourful shipping containers - if you don't mind a crowd, there's loads of fun to be had here. Take $3 in cash each for entry - kids 12 and under are free.
When: Friday and Saturday 4pm to 10pm, Sunday 12pm to 8pm

Her Wardrobe Fashion Market
Touted as the best and busiest fashion market in Brisbane, Her Wardrobe Fashion Market also has a kids' and babies' section where you can find your kids some incredible designer bargains. Come and shop from over 10,000 new and pre-loved items and pick up some great deals for the kids - and perhaps a little sumthin'-sumthin' for yourself while you're there.

Boundary Street Markets
The Boundary Street Markets are all about local produce, world food and arts and crafts. There are several ongoing workshops and cooking demos for parents, as well as live entertainment. Kids can play on the jumping castle, meet some of the animals at the petting zoo and take part in many other fun activities.

Rock A Buy Markets
These markets were born by two local mums who found a need for a place where parents could sell their quality baby and children’s items. And now it's grown into a family-friendly Brisbane treasure, where you can enjoy live music, goodie bags, specials, giveaways and lucky door prizes. The atmosphere is buzzing, and kids are made to feel very welcome.

Jan Powers Farmers Markets - Powerhouse
Everyone in Brisbane knows Jan Powers is the queen of the markets - and if you want to please the children, our pick is definitely the Powerhouse Markets. Right next door to New Farm Park, you can do a bit of shopping and grab a great coffee, and then the children can play to their heart's content. Everyone is a winner! Bonus points if you head back to the Powerhouse for lunch by the river. An icon of Brisbane’s food scene, the Jan Powers Farmers Markets are synonymous with championing local produce and with putting farmers front and centre, where they belong.
