Best Bookshops For Kids In Sydney

Kids
In our book (pun very much intended, thanks), there’s nothing quite like finding a go-to local bookshop. While libraries are a fantastic and free way to enhance your child’s literacy, it's no secret that kids love the thrill of browsing for something special and taking a new book home to enjoy over and over (and over) again.
Not only do they provide a wonderful atmosphere, a unique range of stock, and staff who are truly passionate about literature, they often put on special in-store events for kids. Here's our guide to the best bookshops for kids in Sydney.
The Best Bookshops for Kids in Sydney
1. Kinokuniya
In any book lover's world, a trip to the city is not complete without a visit to Kinokuniya. It’s an absolute delight for both parents and children alike—the children’s section is showered in natural light which comes from a floor-to-ceiling window with a fabulous view of the Town Hall and its clock. The section is cleverly divided into different subject areas which makes it very easy to find what you are after and if you’re still experiencing difficulties, the staff are always on hand to assist. Kinokuniya’s collection is extensive and you will find all of the classics in addition to some quirky and unusual titles!
Location: The Galleries, 500 George St, Sydney
2. Dymocks
Despite being the country's leading bookstore, many Dymocks stores maintain a more individual and personal feel that is more commonly found in the independents. While we don't like to pick favourites (but watch us do it anyway), the Broadway branch of Dymocks is an ultra-accessible, engaging option—and their choice of children’s literature is incredibly well thought out, wide-ranging and interesting. Perfect for a browse!
