Juggling clowns, face-painting fairies & brightly coloured party-room hire…feel all too familiar? Want to spice up your child’s next birthday party? One of Sydney’s best birthday parties with a twist could be just the party with a difference you’re after! Children will be delighted to score an invite to one of these weird and wonderful parties, sure to make their birthday one to remember.

1. Platinum Restaurants – Casa Dining Pizza Making Party

They throw the party, and kids throw the dough! Hosted by Casa’s Italian pizza maestro’s, kids will be taken through the whole messy process from mixing, making and kneading the dough to pizza acrobatics and entertainment. Party packages include soft drink on arrival, a 1.5 hour class, and ice-cream to finish. Held at your choice of Blackbird Cafe on Cockle Bay Wharf or Casa Ristorante Italiano on King Street Wharf (who also offer free face painting and fairy floss every weekend from 12-4pm!). This is a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves, utterly delicious birthday party with a twist that kids won’t soon forget.

2. Flying Yogis

Whether at their Bondi Junction or Five Dock studio or at a venue of your choice, Flying Yogis offer a birthday party option that is so much fun, that kids won’t even know it’s healthy and enforcing positive behaviour such as cooperation, mindfulness and bonding! A birthday party with Flying Yogis may consist of yoga, dance, movement, acrobatics and partner work, gym skills and circuits, hula-hooping, hip hop dance classes; or sustainable arts & crafts. Flying Yogis aim to host sustainable parties- their philosophy being to only throw one garbage bag away at the end of any event. They provide all non-disposable cutlery, crockery, tables/cloths; serviettes etc and clean up completely at the end.

3. Nutty Scientists

Nutty Scientists provide a unique and fun way for children to learn about science- forget clowns and superheroes, give children a chance to learn something valuable at their next birthday party! This is an exciting and participatory party, combining fun, theatre and education, creating a truly unforgettable birthday for children- and one that truly stands out from the rest. Don’t be fooled, these science-themed parties are no boring matter. They are sure to spark your child’s imagination, make children connect with the world around them and develop a solid foundation for future learning.

4. Wannabees

Wannabees birthday parties have everything a child could need- based in two great Sydney locations (Hornsby & Frenchs Forest), it’s the only party venue of its kind in Australia! Wannabees Family Play Town is a miniature city covering 1100 square metres. There are 20 fully functioning buildings for children’s imaginations to come alive in, including a police, TV, radio and fire station, hospital, post office, beauty salon and more. Helpful staff take all the burden into their hands, and packages really do give you it all: invitations, food & drink, party hosts, and cake.
