7-Eleven Is Jacking Up Prices On Two Of Our Favourite Bargain Products

Sky-rocketing inflation and the spiralling cost of living are continuing their insurgence on both our news headlines and our hip pockets. Now, even a global juggernaut is feeling the pinch and jacking up the prices of two of our longest-standing and all-time favourite savvy buys.

7-Eleven convenience stores Australia-wide have succumbed to the tough times and are rolling out their first price hike in over a decade this October, lifting the price of their popular $1 coffees and Slurpees.

The staple 7-Eleven $1 coffee and its caffeine counterparts will go up in price.

Doubling the cost of your daily caffeine hit, a trusty regular coffee from 7-Eleven will now set you back $2, while a large cuppa will cost $3 and the super size will cost you $3.50.

However, if you want to save a buck (half actually) and reduce your eco-footprint you can bring in your own reusable cup to fill up in-store and save 50c. 7-Eleven’s iced coffees, ice cream coffee melts and hot chocolates will also fall victim to the surge.

And what about the Slurpees? While you can currently score a large cup of the flavourful frozen drink for $1, you will soon only get a small for that price. The large will go up to $1.50, super to $2.50 and the mega size will be an equally mega $4.50.

7 Eleven Slurpees
7 Eleven's signature Slurpee will be more than you bargained for from October.

7-Eleven CEO and managing director, Angus McKay, conceded that the retail chain could not continue absorbing rising costs, though he remains optimistic that “a single $2 gold coin for a regular coffee remains among the best value offers in the industry.”

“We will continue to provide our customers with great value and great quality while ensuring our prices are sustainable for our store owners, our suppliers and our communities,” he told NCA NewsWire.

Admittedly, a coffee from 7-Eleven is still a steal compared to a brew from one of Sydney's plethora of cool cafes, and their signature Slurpees are the clear winner against the $7 frozen drink lunacy at cinema candy bars.

Plus, the fun factor of filling your own Slurpee cup with all manner of marvellous flavours from Blue Lemonade to Fairy Floss is priceless.
