Winter Warmer Wollongong

A brand new, multi-element event is coming to Wollongong this month.

Brought to you by the team behind Sunset Cinema, Winter Warmer will be held in the heart of Wollongong at MacCabe Park between 18 – 28 August.

The event will be a celebration of all that makes this thriving coastal city special and combine it with world-class attractions that both locals and out-of-towners will want to flock to - including an 18-metre Cinema Dome, a private winter-themed Igloo Dining Experience and an inspiring array of immersive light installations.

Winter Warmer will excite film-lovers, foodies, artists and families alike, with its eight-day multi-element fiesta filled with local eats, trendy movies, handcrafted brews, epic light installations and one unforgettable dining experience.

Over the two weeks, the super-sized Cinema Dome will be screening a program of cool winter classics such as Home Alone, Mean Girls, and Cool Runnings, and steaming it up with hot new releases including Top Gun: Maverick, Thor: Love and Thunder and Elvis.  To ensure that the little ones don’t miss out on all the fun, there will be daytime sessions at 12 pm and 3 pm with family-friendly films including Minions: The Rise of Gru, The Mighty Ducks, Harry Potter and Frozen.

Winter Warmer will be home to nine private dining igloos where budding romances (or bromances) will flourish while being served up delicious eats. The igloos are built for comfort, with lush blanketing, cushioned seating and strings of twinkling fairy lights to make you feel warm and cosy within this unique winter-wonderland setting. Before or after eventgoers see their favourite films at the Cinema Dome - or dine in their private igloos - they are invited to wander around the park and discover local food vendors or grab a nightcap at pop-up breweries and distilleries from around the region – including Five Barrels, Illawarra Brewing Co, Principle Brewery, Dusty Lizard Brewery and South Coast Distillery. A talented mix of local artists will be performing original tunes and covers live on a stage within the park, giving patrons a chance to unwind with a drink in one hand and a delicious snack in the other after a big week.

Saving the best till last, Winter Warmer will be also home to stunning light installations and digital projections for both the little kids and big kids to interact with, including photo-worthy light tunnels, glowing masterpieces, and dynamic projections that bring inanimate objects to life.
