Visit the Australian Botanic Garden Mount Annan this April school holidays for a great, fun and active day out.

Bring the kids, their scooters or bikes and enjoy the 20km of pathways for a walk, ride or scoot and stop for a picnic lunch. They can burn off some energy at the playground while you relax with a coffee at Melaleuca House Cafe.

April Holiday Activities

Creative Coding
Kids will learn how to program games and robots using easy to use Scratch, Blockly and FlipRobotics. It's all about drag and drop programming that challenges and extends their understanding. Have some fun whilst learning how to use coding in the real world. The course is run by Fizzics Education.

Clay Echidnas – Aboriginal Holiday Program
Come in and join one of our Indigenous educators in a fun, educational, hands-on clay making experience. Learn about the echidna through fun games and activities. Using clay and bush materials you will be creating your very own echidna, a native Australian animal which you will be able to take home at the end of your experience.

Eco Art - School Holiday Workshop
If you love plants and animals, are aged between 5 - 12 years and want to explore your creative side, then this art workshop is for you! Children will play some nature based art games working with a range of art mediums and natural materials to make a series of works to either leave in situ (on site) and to take home.

When:    Tue 16 or 23 Apr, 1pm - 3pm

Kids vs Wild - Shelter
Join the Education Rangers for play and games centred around survival in the wild! We all need shelter in the Wild – join them for 2hrs and learn how to survive the Wild and build the ultimate shelter. Have a look how the animals are doing it and of course make your own!

Fairy Escapades – an enchanted theatre tour through the Garden
Do you believe in fairies? Come on a magical journey through the gardens as we meet some mischievous and magical creatures from the hidden world of the fairies. They will lead you through parts of the garden and share secrets of the fairy world and how they cope with humans in their daily lives.

Find out about the different plants and animals that the fairies live and work with in harmony, and how we can do the same thing if we just take the time to listen. Come dressed as a fairy and make your own fairy wand from the things we find on our way

When:    Wed 17 Apr 2019, 10:30am and 12:30pm session

Ages:     This fun and interactive theatre play is suitable for ages 5+
Cost:      $16 per child, children must be accompanied by their carer.

Easter in the Garden
The Easter Bunny is taking over the Botanic Garden this Easter Monday! He has set up a whole trail of activities for the kids and will be available for a Easter Bunny Selfie at the end of the trail. To keep the parents entertained, he has organized a whole market where they can browse, shop, and have snacks!

At the end of the day, we want to find out who has made the best Easter bonnet at our inaugural Easter Bonnet Parade around Lakeside Lawn, where chocolate prizes await for all participants.

The day will involve:
-    An activity trail with exciting art, sports, and educational activities (tickets required, book below)
-    A market with handmade products
-    Food carts & stalls
-    Photo opportunity with the Easter Bunny (for all activity trail ticket holders)
-    There will be animals and live music
-    Easter Bonnet making (BYO hat)
-    Bonnet parade (everyone welcome) - register here - it's FREE!

When:    Mon 22 Apr 2019, the event will run from 9am to 4pm
Where:   Lakeside Lawn, The Australian Botanic Gardens Mount Annan
Ages:     For children aged 3 - 8 years of age (children must be supervised)
Cost:      Kid's Activity Trail is $17.70 per child (these tickets are for children want to particiapte in the activity trail).
               Please arrive with enough time before your selected start time. 

Chemical Concoctions holiday workshop
Learn how to make elephant's toothpaste, milk rainbows, gooey slime, fizzy potions, giant bubbles and more and more! Participate in a professional chemical science show and make slime to take home. Don't forget to wear old clothes as you will be getting dirty!

Lasers Lightwaves & Illusions
Discover how light really works as we explore illusions, rainbows, diffraction patterns and much more. This hands-on workshop will teach you how images form, why light can bend and crafty tricks that use the light spectrum.

The course is run by Fizzics Education and is presented by a science educator.
