Up in the Air Festival
- Sun May 23 2021
- $8. Kids under 15 FREE!
Soar to incredible new heights this autumn at the fantastic new festival set to light up the sky in Lake Macquarie.
Up in the Air is a spectacular celebration of all things aerial, featuring fly-overs from historic aircraft and exciting aerobatic displays. Aircraft will soar 200m above the Rathmines shoreline, with some planes hovering just metres above the lake's surface.
Four top international aerobatic pilots will be demonstrating their skills and Australia's only Grumman TBF Avenger - the heaviest single-engine aircraft of the Second World War - will be on show. Watch a Military T-28 Trojan rocket past and be thrilled by electrifying aerobatic performances by a Rebel 300 and a Pitts Special Biplane.
The former WWII RAAF base, the historic Rathmines Park will also host classic car displays, live entertainment, brass band performances and vintage dance demonstrations and workshops for a full day of family fun. Kids will be entertained with 'make and fly your own kite' workshops, magic shows, interactive science shows, giant bubbles, hula hooping, roving stilt-walkers and the dedicated art and craft Kids' Zone.
