The Norton Street Italian Festa 2026

One of Australia’s largest annual street festivals takes place in the heart of Sydney's 'Little Italy', offering a vibrant mix of entertainment, cooking demonstrations, delicious food, drinks, and community activities.

The Norton Street Italian Festa hosts more than 180,000 visitors each year. This fun, family-friendly day out has something special for everyone, with free entry for all.

What's On at the 2026 Norton Street Italian Festa

The Capuchin Priests at St Fiacre's Church in Leichhardt organised the first Festa in 1986, wanting to bring the spirit of Italy's religious street festivals to Sydney. Norton Street had long been the heart of the city's Italian community, often the first stop for new arrivals building a life in Australia. Four decades on, it's grown into one of the country's largest street festivals.

What's on For Kids

The festival sets aside a dedicated zone for younger visitors, with carnival rides, jumping castles, an animal farm, pony rides, face painting and street performers working the crowd throughout the day. Combined with the food and noise of Norton Street in full swing, it makes for a genuinely full sensory day out, so plan for a stroller- or pram-friendly stretch of the morning before the street gets busy.

What's On For Everyone Else

• Cooking demonstrations from professional Italian chefs and local nonnas, running throughout the day.
• Live entertainment across two stages, the Co.As.It. Entertainment Stage and the Le Montage by Navarra Culinary Stage, with music, dancing and performances.
• Auto Festa, a display of classic and modern Italian cars lining a stretch of the street.
• Hundreds of stallholders selling food, coffee, gelato and Italian goods, alongside community stalls from local organisations.
