German International School Sydney’s (GISS) will be bringing the festive season forward, to 17 & 18 August, allowing visitors to experience Christmas in the Winter months.

For our young market goers, the school soccer field will become a festive Winter wonderland.  A space where children can enjoy Christmas songs in both English and German, under twinkling stars adorning the roof top. Visitors will be entertained by magician and balloon shows, as well as a Puppet theatre.

Nothing keeps you toasty like a bonfire, and families can relish in toasting marshmallows with the safety of the Terrey Hills fire brigade. The highlight of the night each year is the traditional German Lantern Walk. A special event just for the children, beautiful handmade lanterns can be purchased on the night to join the parade.

To accompany the toasted marshmallow, kids can enjoy a hot chocolate while adults can beat off the cold with a mug of Gluhwein (mulled wine). There will be an abundance of tasty German food to devour, including bratwurst, sauerkraut, pancakes, corn and waffles. Aside from the food stalls, it wouldn’t be a Christmas market without a wide array of unique stalls, reminiscent of an authentic European Christmas Market. Dressed in fairy lights, each stall will boast craftwork of real quality, including local produce, handmade festive decorations, home wares, jewellery, handcrafted toys and craftwork.
