For a unique evening full of wonder that will have older kids and teens in awe, Astronomy at The Calyx at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney combines expert-led science talks, outdoor telescope viewing and mindful stargazing for a fascinating night under the stars.

Step into an evening of cosmic discovery as astronomy experts guide you through the wonders of the universe at Astronomy at The Calyx in Royal Botanic Garden Sydney.

With more than 4,000 planets already discovered, this event explores strange and fascinating worlds far beyond our own. From space volcanoes to dark energy, it is a chance to dive into the mysteries of the cosmos in an engaging, hands-on way.

The evening is led by one of Australia’s leading voices in astronomy, Ángel R. López-Sánchez, Director of the MQ Astronomy Observatory and a celebrated science communicator. Families will hear firsthand from an expert whose breathtaking astronomy visuals have reached audiences around the world.

After the presentations, guests will head outdoors for a mindful stargazing activity before viewing the night sky through powerful telescopes with volunteers from the Northern Sydney Astronomical Society. It is a rare opportunity to experience the universe up close, right in the heart of Sydney. 

This eye-opening event is recommended for ages 12 and over. Each ticket includes a complimentary glass of wine for grown-ups and a grazing box.
