Theatre workshop: Edward the Emu
An entertaining, theatre-making experience with award-winning Sydney children’s theatre company Monkey Baa for children aged 5 – 8 years.

Nature Photography Workshops
Photography buffs of all ages can jumpstart their creativity and learn how to capture nature's best angle in these introductory school holiday workshops. There are different workshops available for kids who are aged 5-8, 8-12 and 13-16.

Prehistoric Playground
The Australian Museum has it's very own stomping ground for dinosaur buffs. Children of all ages can help the Museum’s resident palaeontologists excavate and clean a real 75-million-year-old fossil, discover which plants and animals once inhabited a Jurassic swamp only a few hours from Sydney, colour your dinosaur and see it come to life on our 9m projection. Learn how feathers and wings have evolved for flight by making your own aerodynamic nature objects.

Unsettled: Power through Poetry
You can also check out Unsettled - a FREE exhibition that uncovers the untold histories behind this nation’s foundation story. Your primary and secondary school aged children can engage with the exhibition through Power through Poetry - an activity book that has been designed to deepen your engagement with Unsettled as you look, listen, and reflect. Be inspired by the poems of First Nations artists that respond to the themes in this powerful exhibition, then use the prompts and activities to create your own poems.
Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year
While you are at The Australian Museum, you can also check out the 2021 Australian Geographic Nature Photographer of the Year exhibition, which has FREE admission. Here you'll immerse yourself in the beauty of the natural world in this stunning photographic exhibition, with more than 100 sensational wildlife and nature photos on display.
