One of Australia’s largest cultural celebrations, Sydney Festival will bring the city together with a thought-provoking program line up of more than 140 events across three weeks from January 6 – 26 2021. As well as a huge range of inspiring talks, panels and workshops for adults, Sydney Festival is also catering to kids and families. Highlights of the program include:
Hide the Dog at the Seymour Centre—a theatrical celebration of adventure, friendship and the power of culture – wherever you find it.
Merging circus, acrobatics, dance and live music, A Bee Story is an enchanting and educational show that explores issues surrounding sustainability, environmentalism and community.
HIVE MIND, presented by Sydney Living Museums, takes place inside the picturesque grounds of Vaucluse House. It is being presented alongside a range of bee-inspired public programs, including workshops, self-guided activities, tours and talks.
In Under the Madhan, Wiradjuri dancer Jo Clancy shares gentle, sometimes cheeky stories about caring for Country in a delightful family show mixing puppetry, song and dance. Learn dances, tunes and Wiradjuri words with Jo under the shade of the Madhan (Wiradjuri word for tree) on a magical set designed by revered creators of visual theatre, Erth.
Our Home, Our Heartbeat is a First Nations storytelling event for the whole family, where rapper, actor and children’s book author Briggs will be joined by fellow Indigenous picture book authors – including the much-loved Archie Roach – in a joyful celebration of the oldest continuing culture in the world.
