The State Library will help keep your kids entertained this summer with some fabulous creative activities that will run both onsite and online.


Learn some simple Japanese words, write using Japanese symbols, fold a paper crane and be inspired by Japanese prints in the collection to create your own beautiful kimono design.

Board game bonanza

Choose your favourite theme, create your tokens and decorate the board to develop a fully functioning board game you can play and treasure for years to come. 

Create a toy and object showcase

Discover some fabulous ways to showcase your special things in this hands-on and crafty workshop. Find out how to showcase your collections using a variety of materials and mixed media. 

Tour the Library's galleries

Have fun with the whole family as you explore the nooks and crannies of the wonderful Mitchell Building with a fab tour guide. 

Join a writing workshop

Join a writing workshop with celebrated children’s authors Oliver Phommavanh and Adrian Beck.
