Sea of Hands Community Day: The Royal Botanic Garden

The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney is partnering with ANTaR, the national organisation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander reconciliation and rights, to bring its interactive symbol of reconciliation, the Sea of Hands, to The Calyx for NAIDOC Week 2021.

The Sea of Hands at The Calyx artwork was designed by award winning artist Frances Belle Parker, a proud Yaegl woman. It was installed with the help Sydneysiders and will be officially launched at the Community Day on 4 July.

Hear from the artist Frances Belle Parker at 10am, 12.30 and 2.30. at The Calyx and enjoy a range of food and beverage themed especially for NAIDOC Week. There will be performances, entertainment and of course, the audio-immersive artwork built by Sydneysiders.

The Calyx lawn is a large open space and the Sea of Hands is an outdoor event with a Covid Safety plan registered with NSW Health. The capacity of the lawn with 4m2 is 600. Conditions of entry include requirements to stay away if unwell, record keeping via QR codes, 1.5m physical distancing, hand sanitiser at key points around the venue.
