The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney has something for everyone this summer school holidays. Keep the kids entertained all season with outdoor theatre, kids cooking, full day outdoor programs and much more!

I'm Dreaming of a Green Christmas (6-12yrs)
Elfis and Elvin the Elves have been sent to Australia to make preparations for Santa’s visit but things don’t go to plan… These two cheeky elves will have you laughing and singing as they battle the harsh Aussie environment to make sure Christmas happens!

Plants With Bite
Discover the fascinating world of carnivorous plants and have your chance to get up close with these creepy and weird specimens. Join in for this fun and educational experience where you will learn about the evolution of carnivorous plants, the different trap types and how they go about catching their prey. You will be given your own Venus fly trap and bugs to feed it and you'll have the opportunity to attach a digital microscope to your smartphone and capture close up pictures of the traps in action. At the end of the session, you'll be given your own insect to gobble up and try.

Kids Kanga Kitchen (6-12yrs)
Jump into action with our Aboriginal educators for an exciting hands-on cooking and learning experience. Create your very own Kangaroo burger and native infused cupcake as you learn about significant native flora and fauna to Aboriginal culture through cooking and fun outdoor activities

Garden Bug Hunt (6-12yrs)
Summer has arrived in the garden and so have the bugs! Visit The Calyx Plants with Bite exhibition, to see some unique carnivorous plants that are an insects worst nightmare. Explore the garden and help scientists record the distinctive calls of cicadas, search for beetles and stick insects and investigate what makes Australia’s insects truly unique. Use these unique features to craft your own bug to take home.

When:      14-25 January 2019 (excluding Sundays); 10.30am-12pm or 12.30-2pm

Garden Grubs
Kids have lots of creative and active fun in the Garden with our professional, enthusiastic educators! This all-day school holiday program is full of fun and adventures in the Garden. Kids spend the day exploring the garden and connecting with nature!
Where:     The Moore Room, via Woolloomooloo Gates
When:      15, 17, 21 and 22 January 2019; 9am-3.30pm (Standard Day) OR 8am-5.30pm (Long Day)  
Cost:        Members $76.50 per child (Standard Day), $103.50 (Long Day). Non-Members $85.00 (Standard Day), $115.00 (Long Day)

Garden Bug Hunt (Inclusive Program) (6-12yrs)
Summer has arrived in the garden and so have the bugs! Visit The Calyx Plants with Bite exhibition, to see some unique carnivorous plants that are an insects worst nightmare. Explore the garden, search for beetles and stick insects and investigate what makes Australia’s insects truly unique. Use these unique features to craft your own bug to take home. This program is designed to support the needs of children with disabilities aged 6 – 12 years. All materials included. This activity is delivered in partnership between the Royal Botanic Garden, Sydney and EarlyEd and is supported by the City of Sydney Matching Grants program.

Pizza Plants (6-12yrs)
Hands-on pizza making at the Tomato Festival Sydney! Let your kids take their tastebuds on a delicious adventure in the Garden! 
Activities include: a treasure hunt to find pizza ingredients growing in the Garden; planting yummy Mediterranean herbs to take home; making a munchalicious mini-pizza to eat....YUM!
