Get ready to set sail on an epic adventure, as Hayes Artistic Directors Richard Carroll and Victoria Falconer have reimagined a sprawling, satirical musical masterpiece with a modern twist that’s as bold as it is hilarious.

In this joyful new adaptation, four daring performers (plus one extra dynamic swinger) bring unforgettable characters to life:

• The Pirate King, devoted to a life of swashbuckling and skullduggery—when the hours aren’t too demanding.
• Ruth, the nursemaid with a mischievous streak and a secret talent for piracy.
• Mabel, a young woman eager for new experiences and a little extra excitement.
• Frederic, our young hero caught between worlds thanks to a series of amusing administrative mishaps.
• And a major general who struggles with his past while trying to uphold respectability.

Joining the quartet are a motley pirate crew, a troupe of singing police recruits, Mabel’s spirited sisters, and the loyal pirate accomplice and pianist, Fish Cake.
