Enjoy an interactive and entertaining family day out at The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney for the 6th annual, award-winning Tomato Festival Sydney on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 February; 10am-4pm.

There will be the usual festival favourites such as pizza making, plant sales and the long lunch as well as new features to entice you back. Bring along the whole family for an inspiring harbourside food festival celebrating all things tomato. This year’s theme is the magic of seeds!

Longest Tomato Lunch

Join in the fun at the 70-metre-long table and be part of the ever popular Longest Tomato Lunch. The foreshore lawns will be transformed into a fabulous long lunch setting. Enjoy a four-course tomato inspired Italian lunch designed by the 2 Michelin Stars and multi-award winning chef, Luca Ciano. The menu includes a contemporary take on a traditional Italian family feast with share plates and individual items.

Retro Movie Experience: Attack of the Killer Tomatoes

Don’t miss the exclusive late night at The Calyx for the cult classic Attack of the Killer Tomatoes! This is not just a relaxed film screening but a whole night of entertainment – wander through the Plants with Bite display and enjoy the spectacular lighting design, feast on a delicious range of tacos with a glass of sparkling wine (both included in ticket price). Or simply sit on the terrace while listening to a mixture of live music and DJ sounds, sipping on a cocktail available to purchase during the night.

Grow, Cook, Eat – A Day with Paul West

Join celebrity chef and star of River Cottage Australia, Paul West, as he takes you on the full heirloom tomato journey from seed to table to pantry. You'll spend the afternoon learning simple recipes for your tomato banquet, as well as basic preserving ideas. Brought to you by the Diggers Club.

Cooking & Learning Hub

Inspiring free gardening talks and cooking demonstrations will be held over the 2 days of the festival. Sessions include how to make delicious demonstrations by award-winning chefs along with gardening talks from industry experts. Learn how to grow heirloom tomatoes and get top tips for seed saving.

Eat

Naturally, there are plenty of opportunities for you to taste tomatoes at the Tomato Festival! Put your palate to the test and take part in the free Diggers Heirloom Tomato Taste Test (11.30 am - 1.00 pm daily). Relax in the ever-popular Relish ‘pop-up’ cafe & bar featuring innovative tomato inspired dishes, as well as a range of food stalls stalls with new taste sensations include, paella, fresh squeezed cane juice, cocktails, pickles, hot sauces, artisan crumpets, Asian fusion dishes.

Compete for top prize in the Tomato Relish/Chutney, Chilli Sauce and Passata Sauce Competitions – enter now before 3 February. Or for those with a green thumb, enter your prized home-grown tomatoes for the Best in Show Competition. – enter now before 14 February. Register Now!  

Plant Sales

Visit the Growing Friends stall for a wide range of potted plants including Heartbreaker tomatoes and herbs as well as plants propagated from the Garden’s living collection.

Produce market

Stroll through the produce market for an incredible range of local producers and artisans with lots to taste and buy including heirloom tomatoes, spices, smoked garlic and sea salt, pickles and preserves, luscious cheeses, Prosciutto di Parma, artisan crumpets, chilli and pasta sauces.
