Mega Creatures at Hunter Valley Gardens

Autumn is a beautiful time to visit the Hunter Valley, and the renowned Hunter Valley Gardens is the perfect place to soak up the season's beauty.

From 28 March to 26 April 2026, Mega Creatures and a Mega Creatures Night Safari invite visitors to explore an incredible Jurassic world of dinosaurs, giant bugs, and mythical creatures, plus enjoy rides, interactive fossil digs, amazing entertainment from Erth, and giant animatronic animals.

Watch out for awe-inspiring stomping dinosaurs that roam the Gardens as you encounter life-sized mega creatures, including T. rex, Diplodocus, Stegosaurus, Ankylosaurus, and Triceratops. Step back in time and discover Dino Land and come face to face with prehistoric legends, including Wuerhosaurus, Huangyangosaurus, Dilophosaurus, Rhyothemis Fuliginosa Selys and plenty more.

Hunter Valley Gardens Amphitheatre has been taken over by an amazing butterfly exhibition, and you can catch a glimpse of mythical beasts and flying creatures from a land before time in the Dragon's Den. Some even breathe fire!

It's Back: Land of Legends

Back by popular demand, step into the Land of Legends, where history and fantasy come to life in the most magical way! Be captivated by incredible creatures as you explore the breathtaking views from the top of the Sunken Garden Waterfall.

Mega Creatures Night Safari

As the sun sets at Hunter Valley Gardens, the Mega Creatures Night Safari will come alive with illuminated pre-historic creatures displays. The Gardens' collection of resident snakes and lizards will be on display after dark as they come out to play on Reptile Road in the magical Storybook Garden.

Carnival rides will also be alight in the glowing glory, and visitors can grab a ride token and head over to the Carousel, Swing Chair, Giant Ferris Wheel, Tea Cup, or Superslide. There is no better way to see the dinosaurs than from the 25-metre-high Ferris Wheel that offers panoramic views of the Gardens.
